Unstable Version 1.1 Build 1 Is Available Now!
Hello everyone!
I'm very relieved to announce that version 1.1 of the Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered Deluxe demo is now close to ending development! Remember, if you're still on version 1.0, I recommend staying on that version unless you want to be up to date with whatever gets uploaded to this Itch page. Until July 27, 2025, every 5 days this demo will be updated with more improvements, and maybe more bugs! Through July 27 to July 31, the mod's demo will be mostly focused on receiving bug fixes, and maybe some adjustments that I believe are the most important. Either way, this update is the only update I have made to the demo so far, but I will continue to make updates to this. I'm sorry for taking so long though!
Now, here is the changelog. The most significant changes are in bold.
Additions, Adjustments & Technical Tweaking
- Added Diet BSODA!
- Added Diet BSODA vending machines.
- The classic map now has 8 notebooks.
- Updated the classic map so that all the classrooms and faculty rooms fit in almost every gap they can.
- This updated map no longer contains dead ends.
- The phone is now located in a random classroom.
- The principal's office now uses the public demo tiling.
- The classrooms now use the tiling from Baldi's Basics Plus version 0.10.
- Other rooms now use different tiling.
- Reworked the original doors. The textures of sides of doors with doorknobs now match the type of area you go.
- For example, if one hallway attaches to a faculty room using a door, they will match the area type that the side of the door faces away from.
- Reworked some of the positions and rotations of the desks, chairs, and tables so it is now similar to how it looks in Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered. Last time, it wasn't perfect before.
- Reworked the positions and rotations of the teacher chairs so it is similar to how it looks in Baldi's Basics Chapter 2 Remastered.
- Baldi's slap sprites were intentionally edited and as of today I do not know why I did it, so I changed them back. Also put them into a sprite sheet.
- Reworked Baldi's slap curve.
- Baldi's wave sprites are also put into a sprite sheet, except a different one.
- The game's intro image text is no longer random colors (i.e. the "remastered" text is blue, and the "deluxe" text is goldish yellow). All the text now follows like this: "Baldi's" is green, "BASICS" is black, "REMASTERED" is yellow, and "Deluxe" is magenta. The text "Classic" after "BASICS" and before "REMASTERED" has been added, and it is red.
- Changed the fonts to the following text order:
- Comic Sans MS Baskerville Old Face Comic Sans MS Baskerville Old Face Gill Sans MT.
- Gill Sans MT was added to the list.
- Made more changes to the Baldi sprites.
- Canvas size ensures that the main Baldi pixels are centered.
- Each sprite in a sprite sheet now will be rescaled to make Baldi's body consistent.
- Added a dithering transition effect for screens on the main menu.
- Changed back the tape sound and added a sound for putting in Baldi's least favorite tape. (Why? Why did I change this sound to an ear-rape sound?)
- Added subtitles for preview.
- Changed the area of the detention room to the number of units as the area for 5x4.
- Changed the Baldi callout sound for when you've collected all notebooks so that Baldi says "eight notebooks".
- The player no longer starts outside when the game starts. The player is now inside the school when the game starts.
- Wall-based swinging doors located at entrances are no longer walls. They are now proper swinging doors.
- For this change made, this required a programming overhaul. Every single swinging door now has a setting that can be changed (the part of the programming of which you must NOT edit in dnSpy!) whether it is a fixed swinging door or a swinging door that stays locked by Baldi without a lock when you have 1 or no notebooks or and not more than or exactly 2 notebooks.
- Updated the Baldi voice clips.
- Updated the locker textures/materials.
- Added an Energy Flavored Zesty Bar machine to the Classic maps.
- Vending machines can now run out of stock when used up.
- Re-added the poster with the man in it that was missing in the previous version.
- The font in Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered Deluxe is no longer ComicSansProW99-Regular. It is now Comic Sans Pro.
- Windows are now placed differently.
- Sprites are now adjusted to their correct size.
- The vending machines are now properly scaled to their intended size instead of 4 units on the x, 8 units on the y, and 2 units on the z.
- The scale is now finalized in the collider rather than in the transform instance.
- Changed the lighting.
- I somehow deleted the cubemap for this game mod and increased brightness of this game when decompiling the game and transferring the main files I made to a new project.
- Added sounds for the following things which didn't have any:
- Doors locking and unlocking (will work for the next update).
- Trying to open a locked door (also will work for the next update).
- Clicking on/swapping out items.
- Inserting a quarter in a vending machine or the phone.
- And using Safety Scissors on a jump-rope.
- The clicking on/swapping out items sound is also going to be used on the menu and YCTP buttons. (See the next change for more info)
- Reworked the clicking functionality for the buttons. Every time you hold the left mouse button down, a clicking sound will play. You have until the sound stops playing to release the button while the sound is playing to go to the screen you want to go to before the button does it for you.
- The exit button now has a respectful voice clip for Baldi to say instead of plain old nothing. I'm pretty sure you all know what he says when you quit Plus-related mods, so I won't bother mentioning it.
- Changed the BSODA spray sprite to the sprite from Plus.
- The sprite now randomly rotates.
- The You Can Think Pad has now been downscaled to 480x360.
- Alarm clocks can now be set to go off at 15, 30, 45, or 60 seconds. Once dropped, just click on it to change it! If the time runs out and Baldi didn't see you (meaning you lost him), Baldi will go to the clock immediately. The clock's timer will be set to 30 seconds by default.
- By interacting with the clock, you are moving the timer hand clockwise. However, when the timer counts down, it moves counterclockwise.
- Changed Arts and Crafters' sprites to the sprites that they are in 2021 - 2025.
- Tweaked Baldi.
- Reworked Baldi in a way such that his entities now share all features to just one entity and one of the old entities was deleted afterwards while they were at it.
- Because of the first change mentioned from the main change, Baldi will now teleport to his new location in his new version of the entity when he is mad.
- Tweaked Gotta Sweep.
- His collider is now smaller than before so this way he does not sweep the player in his sweep if the player is next to a side of a wall that Gotta Sweep is on the opposite side of to the player.
- The velocity of Gotta Sweep is no longer equal to his speed. Instead, it is equal to 0.8 times his speed meaning you can now phase through him.
- Adjusted the sight of Playtime.
- More audio can now be paused by going on the You Can Think Pad.
- Organized the tile order.
- Changed the Principal's office door to the current appearance for Baldi's Basics Plus instead of the placeholder design created in this game.
- Changed Gotta Sweep's room door to the current appearance for Baldi's Basics instead of the placeholder design created in this game.
- When exits close, walls now appear instead of gates.
- Added a system that detects all exits you've collected.
- (In the next build I mean this, but not now) Exits without gates in this version now make noise unlike the exits with gates in the previous version.
- Changed the placeholder image screen to a proper image that you can actually interact with and removed the older buttons and their sprites.
- Updated the secret ending challenge. Baldi now speeds up in different variants of the same curves based on what problem you got wrong first. Also, you may think that the curve does not start if no 3rd problems are correct, meaning Baldi goes lightning fast, however that glitch was not the case.
- The HUD now disappears when a jump-scare occurs.
- The math game's (or the You Can Think Pad's) hint text amount is now 3 for each and every type. 3 for the win, 3 for the normal, and 3 for the failure.
- Two of the hint text string variables have been swapped and one of those two has been changed as well.
- If an interactable object is near and you look at it, the interaction hand will show up on the reticle. Items that can only be used on certain objects can be displayed on the reticle but need to be selected while being close enough to and looking at the object.
- There is now a swap reticle image that displays when you look at an item (not a notebook, but a general item) while having a full inventory.
- Reworked detention such that you will now be able to break rules in detention if detention is not going on right now.
- The rules that can be broken are:
- Running.
- And drinking.
- In Baldi's Basics Plus, you can break the no entering faculty only room rule in detention in rare occasions. However, I want to experiment with it more for adding the ability to break all the rules you want inside, outside, or around detention in this version of Baldi's Basics. I may or may not change my ideas on what I want to do, but I want to hear suggestions!
- The rules that can be broken are:
- Cleaned up a lot of the programming and removed the "MeshCombiner" script and assets.
(EDITED) Fixes
- Fixed most walls being flipped.
- It is no longer possible to use the Principal's Keys on unlocked doors.
- Fixed issues with Playtime.
- Fixed the Playtime sprite not being consistently updated each time.
- Fixed a timing issue with cutting Playtime's jump-rope that occurs during the very first frame you start the jump-rope minigame. This caused strange random behaviors with Playtime. Now, you have to use the safety scissors at a later frame.
- Fixed a volume inconsistency issue with the audio clips.
- Fixed a doppler effect affecting the audio clips, changing the pitch, and also causing an issue with the audio clip that makes her say "one."
- Fixed the voice line overlapping issue with cross-playing audio devices.
- Fixed the cut-off globe being glitched and duplicated as a reference image. Also fixed the image not being a rotating billboard relative to the camera.
- Reworked the way navigation was set up, which fixed these following issues:
- Characters' movement functionality and velocity malfunctioning when they shouldn't be. This was a BIG issue which I was struggling with when I was trying to get the secret ending, which is NOT worth getting.
- Characters getting too close to walls in hallways instead of corners and walls in rooms.
- The navigation in the cafeteria not carving out the majority of sides along other pathways and obstacles correctly.
- Fixed the loading screen on the main menu not filling up the entire screen on some devices.
- It is no longer possible to use items during a Baldi jump-scare.
- Fixed a minor stamina issue.
- Escaping from Playtime's jump-rope minigame no longer freezes image rendering on the Image component. Instead, it will now reset the image back to the first sprite when it's disabled, when you escape from the minigame, to prevent the previous image on the rectangle rendering instead of what we expect.
- Fixed one of the exit signs (specifically the one in the cafeteria) floating in place on air. It is now held by a lower ceiling that will hold it in place.
- Fixed a door issue that allows you to attract Baldi's attention by clicking on the door through the directional raycast when it's already open.
- Fixed a bug that doesn't allow Principal of the Thing to give you detention when Principal tries to interact with the player if a rule is already broken while the player had already gone inside of Principal's office.
- Fixed a major glitch that made it extra difficult to trigger Arts and Crafters.
- Fixed mouse movement being detected when the game is currently paused.
- Fixed the bug that allows the door to stay open for the remainder of its open time if the door was open and is locked. It will now shut if it was open and if it locks, after which you will not be able to open the door.
- Fixed a tile in the secret ending being a TextMeshPro extra texture. I forgot this glitch existed and I'm glad I got the secret ending in the previous version to discover this for myself.
- Fixed an interaction glitch that occurs when looking at one item near it, then looking at another. Also fixed an interaction inconsistency glitch that happened with an item in a faculty room.
Removals
- Removed the "99" chalkboard temporarily.
- The walls that the room that Gotta Sweep uses used to use are no longer usable.
- Removed an area and a model that wasn't necessary for the classic map.
- I decided it should be in a map that's completely separate from these two variants of the classic map in this mod, and I think of adding in the map in the official release.
- Removed the "I'll say some words and you'll spell them. Mr. Baldi" chalkboard.
- The school board decided that eating food is OK; drinking drinks, however, is still not acceptable by the school principal, Principal of the Thing, so he left the "No drinking" rule on the school board.
- Removed the test character that mystman12 used for testing Baldi's Basics Classic, known as PlaceFace.
- Removed the test room from the school scene. I will not have any plan returning this room to the game again in the future as this is an old room in Baldi's Basics that people have known about for a long time and is an unnecessary feature for this game.
Known Issues
- The win screen for the demo does not close the game.
- The navigation is not 100% accurate.
- The secret ending is not finished.
- The inventory slots don't always work.
- The inventory does not have a masking image to hide anything from outside the inventory.
- The design of the pause screen has been... "figured out."
- Audio is not propagated. (It's not a bug, just a game design problem that needs to be taken care of.)
- The hang of the learn music (Everybody's Favorite Subject) is not correct.
- The desks in one of the faculty rooms were accidentally moved at the same time I was taking care of another glitch.
- Some audio sources cannot play and loop audio and make it play a looped caption at the same time the audio plays. This is because yet another rework on captions that's planned currently did not begin. For now, any caption will play without default audio sources. Once I rework the captions again for the final demo update, the default audio device captions will enable if the clip that it plays is on loop and other audio sources are not playing and on loop, as an example.
- Baldi's audio is not possible to pause.
- Some captions are missing.
